MCIF Pillars

Pillar 1 – Evangelism

  • A soul saving church with the goal (destiny) that all may inherit Eternal Life. (John 3: 16, Luke 19: 10).
  • A church that is faithful and constant in its engagement in prayer, worship and stewardship renewal. Exploring new forms of worship pertinent or appealing to the young generation but biblically based will be the guiding principle in the process. Traditional forms of worship still play a significant role as cultural images, values and practice are still strong amongst Methodists in Fiji and Rotuma

Pillar 2: Education

  • A church that learns, prepares, grows, empowers and enriches all the branches of the church, spiritually in every way and in all levels possible for now, the medium term and the future.
  • A church that contributes towards quality education for our children from kindergarten to tertiary level, and the continuous education and training for all youths finding employment and specific skills training and skills upgrade for working women and men, to assist with growth, maturity, assurance and witness against our permissive pluralistic society.

Pillar 3 – Economic Stability

  • A church that is committed to the development of its property (land and building and other assets) in order to generate more revenue to the church to fund her mission.
  • A church that is faithful and constant in practicing compassion through a liberating mission to the poor, the marginalized, the minorities and those who are oppressed and exploited, the deprived, the sexually abused, depressed, violated and lost their self-esteem.

Pillar 4 – Environment

  • A church that cares to provide responsible stewardship to God’s creation. Our self-centred human development had brought demise to the world of creation to which we are first called to be responsible for at the time of creation (Gen 1: 26-28). God tells us to be good stewards of all He has given us, so we do need to care about the way we treat the environment. Activities, such as recycling, cutting down on fossil fuels, and simply buying energy-saving light bulbs are small ways to help take care of the environment.
  • A church that cares for the environment because God has given us this great responsibility and privilege. Scientists have studied the planet and the surrounding atmosphere, which is why we should respect their work and hear what they have to say because we are believers who respect science. Science attests to God, as God is the One who invented science because it is God who invented every atom, molecule, and chromosome.

Pillar 5 – Ecumenism

  • A church that is committed and open to dialogue with other Christian Churches, living faiths, government, all ethnic groups, the land and civil society as a way of moving the nation forward in the course of healthy nation-building.
  • A church that responds actively to Scripture that calls us to be both neighbours and witnesses to all peoples.
