Rotuma Division Choir Represents with Pride at Annual Methodist Church Conference

Suva, Fiji – August 26, 2024 – The Rotuma Division Choir took a momentous step this year as they represented the Rotuman community at the Annual Methodist Church of Fiji and Rotuma Conference, held in Suva. With the theme “Restoring the Lost Image of Christ,” the conference emphasized the importance of spiritual renewal and faith in these challenging times.

The Rotuma Division Choir’s participation was particularly significant as they brought the distinct and rich cultural heritage of Rotuma to the forefront of the conference. Their performance, which featured a harmonious blend of traditional Rotuman hymns and contemporary gospel music, resonated deeply with attendees, reflecting the conference’s theme in a uniquely Rotuman way.

For the first time in the Rotuma Division history, the choir was joined by members from the newly established Soloag Asa Circuit. This addition marked a proud moment for the Rotuma Division, symbolizing the circuit’s growing role within the broader Methodist Church community.

Rev. Dr Semesi Turagavou, President of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma, expressed his admiration for the Rotuma Division Choir’s contribution to the conference. “The Rotuma Division Choir’s participation is a testament to the strength and vibrancy of the Rotuman community within our church. Their dedication to restoring the image of Christ through music and worship is truly inspiring,” he said.

The theme of this year’s conference, “Restoring the Lost Image of Christ,” served as a call to all congregations to reflect on their spiritual journeys and renew their commitment to living out the teachings of Christ. The Rotuma Division Choir’s performance was a poignant reminder of this mission, as their songs conveyed messages of hope, faith, and the enduring love of Christ.

Attendees were moved by the choir’s ability to blend their cultural expressions with the universal message of Christianity, demonstrating that the image of Christ can be restored through diverse and inclusive worship practices.

As the conference drew to a close, the Rotuma Division Choir left a lasting impression on all who witnessed their performance. Their representation of the Rotuma Division was not only a musical contribution but also a powerful statement of faith and unity within the Methodist Church.

The church looks forward to future contributions from the Rotuma Division Choir as they continue to inspire and uplift through their music and unwavering commitment to the church’s mission.
